What is the vitamin thing that people take to calm nervousness?

December 8, 2011 No Comments

I have an anxiety disorder and frequently I find that I’m nervous even when I take mt medication as prescribed. Today was one of those days, even though I’m fine, I just feel on edge because of work and such. When it happens at night, it disturbs my sleep. So I talked to my doctor about it and believe it or not she did not recommend another medication! She recommended Valerian Root.
Valerian root is a natural supplement found with other vitamins that has a calming effect. At night it can be combined with a small dose of melatonin (3-12mg) to ease the mind and enhance sleep. I hate to admit it, but it worked like a charm. I’ve been sleeping great. Only once in the last week have I woken up anxious, I downed a couple melatonin (6mg) and went back to sleep. If I get nervous during the day, the Valerian does the trick. It just goes to prove that not every remedy a doctor recommends will come with a prescription.
