How consistent should my ab workout be?
Something that you will have to strongly consider is the amount of times that you do a certain workout during the course of the week. If you are trying to get really strong abs that look defined, I would strongly suggest that you try to do at least 4-5 workouts during the week. This will give you the best chance of success so that you can hit the goals that you want. If you are simply trying to tone your abs so that you can limit the amount of fat in that area, you should not be doing more then 2-3 workouts a week. When you do workout, try to have a heart meal that is full of protein before and after so that you can have the energy to optimize your abilities.
