What cardio exercise can I do while my ankle is healing from surgery?

November 10, 2011 No Comments

When your ankle is healing from ankle surgery, you should follow a proper procedure that is safe and not very intense as you want to gradually get back to where you used to be. I would suggest that you start out the first few weeks by doing small exercises so that you can get back the feeling in your ankle. Then you can walk on the treadmill for about a half an hour, which will help you build up the endurance that you need. About a month after ankle surgery, you should be able to start light jogging either outside or on the treadmill until you are able to run. Make sure that if at any point you feel like you are in pain, to stop immediately and ice your ankles as this is the point where you should not continue. I wish you the best of luck and hope this works for you!
