How much exercise should a teenager do?
Teenagers can exercise the same as an adult does, the question is the same: what is your goal? Is your goal to lose weight, or merely to stay healthy? Very young teens should not worry too much about losing weight unless a doctor has told them as much; they should focus on health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Older teens in high school can start addressing weight issues if they like, as long as they remember to be safe about it instead of reaching for a diet pill. The most important thing for teens to remember if they are starting an exercise program is to not forget about a proper diet and proper hydration (8-10 glasses a day!). Any exercise is safe for teenagers, but they should probably have a mix of cardiovascular and weight training. This could be as simple as going for a speed walk a few times a week and lifting free weights at the gym.
